摘要
威廉•麦克皮斯•萨克雷是英国最杰出的小说家之一。《名利场》被普遍认可为他的代表作，同时也是一部世界经典著作。小说描述了两位命运鲜明对比的女主人公---贝蒂•夏普与艾米利亚•塞德利。在《名利场》中，萨克雷诠释了在一个男权思想和以金钱为中心的世界女性的地位与形象，抨击了一个拥护维多利亚婚姻观和家庭观的虚伪腐败的社会。基于对波伏娃的女性主义的理解，本篇论文重新解读《名利场》 — 艾米莉亚女性主义意识的觉醒。通过分析艾米利亚女性主义意识觉醒的方式和原因，由此得出结论：女性应该自信地追求女性的独立与自由。本论文的完成，将会作为前人对这部小说的研究的补充，并且会对以后的研究有所帮助。

Abstract
It is known that William Makepeace Thackeray is one of the greatest representatives of the English novelists. It is Vanity Fair that has been generally taken as his masterpiece as well as a worldly classic. It follows the destinies of two contrasting but inter-linked heroines: Becky Sharp and Amelia Sedley. In the novel Thackeray examines the position and the role of women in a money-oriented and men-oriented society in order to attack a corrupted, hypocritical society which advocates the Victorian virtues of marriage and family. The book accompanies the lives of Becky and Amelia through happy time and sorrowful days. Based on Beauvoir’s feminist critical theory, the thesis will focus on a reinterpretation of Vanity Fair, that is, the awakening of Amelia’s female consciousness. By exploring the ways and the causes of Amelia’s awakening, the thesis draws the conclusion: Women should have self-confidence to pursue feminist independence and liberation. Through the accomplishment of this paper, it will be a supplement of the former studies of this novel and it can do help for the following research of the novel.
